New Case Study: Basic Product Line Growth through
Strategic Innovation
|
|
|
Strategic Innovators are often presented with seemingly
impossible innovation challenges. For example, developing breakthrough
innovation for a product line that has ancient origins, and hasn't
changed significantly in 100 years. Yet challenges with basic products
can result in some of the highest value innovations.
For a Fortune
500 hardware and tool leader, Product Genesis applied our proven Innovation
Genesis framework to identify breakthrough growth opportunities for
the company's commercial tool line. By applying a combination of lead
user and Video-Voice-of-the-Customer techniques, the Genesis team was
able to uncover latent and unmet needs in a seemingly staid, basic
product arena. An innovation platform approach was created that resulted
in ongoing product innovations that have delighted the end-users and
stakeholders; doubled market share for the product line, and delivered
well-deserved recognition of the Company as an innovation leader.
