Front End of Innovation Conference Paper: "Seeing Around the Corner: Using Scenarios to Identify New
Market Opportunities"
|
|
|
Along
with Rajul Misra, Senior Scientist at United Technologies Research
Center, Patrick Casey, Director at Product Genesis, presented
"Seeing Around the Corner: Using Scenarios to Identify New Market
Opportunities" on May 25th at the IIR/PDMA Front End of Innovation
Conference in Boston, MA.
New product teams are often trapped in a static view
of their environment that limits potential innovation and leaves them
vulnerable to competitors with more foresight with regard to market
dynamics. To be successful, your team needs to be able to "see
around the corner". But anticipating change is difficult, especially
if the environment has been stable for a period of years.

Special Report: Reflecting on Corporate Venture Capital
|
|
|
While
corporate venture capital (CVC) is not a new phenomenon, it is also not
that old! Many argue that CVC did not achieve prominence until the late
1960s. In the intervening years we have witnessed a proliferation of
diverse efforts by many of the largest global companies. A close
assessment of the details and overall outcomes to date has not been
undertaken, but a few observations are worth noting even in the absence
of complete data.
Ed
Roberts, David Sarnoff Professor, Management of Technology Program, Sloan
School of Management, MIT and Dr. Val R. Livada, Vice President, Product
Genesis, report on results of corporate venture capital efforts.
